Price vs Quality
Over the last several years the word Quality had taken a back seat to price. If you visit average salon around the country you will find the "exact same look" in many of them. Cheap particle board displays that wore out after 3 months of use. Vinyl wash basins that stain and simply look awful. Shampoo chairs that are so poorly designed it hurts to stand up after sitting in them for a shampoo. And the final straw are chairs that tip over if you move your weight around in the wrong direction. tip over...some even bend under normal weight of a client. The base might look heavy but is made of low quality thin metal that cracks and bends. Many also rust from the underside and this will weaken the metal within a few weeks.
The reason for this is a lack of knowledge and good photography. When you look online every piece looks fine. You place an order and get in something that look the same but cheaper. Poorly made cushions, no structure to support any weight, paper thin metal base and parts that are never quite tight. Poor cheap engineering and materials add up to a poor quality product that you will be using every day to make a living. Like buying a scissors and filling the edge smooth. Looks good but does not work for the purpose it was purchased for.
Sure you can return everything....except the cost is 50% or 75% of the purchase price so either way you are ...okay you know the word without saying it. Up a creek!
What to Buy?
- American made salon chairs are usually made to last. Lack style but will work.
- Italian made hair salon chairs are known for style and quality
- German made are know to be top quality, very functional and have unique clean styling
- Cheap promotional stiff is always trouble in the long run so stay away.
Buy quality upfront. Save as much cash down payment as you can, use the Square Up for a loan against your revenue, look into a short term lease or even a no interest credit card and double the monthly payment would all be better in the long run than getting stuck with poor quality equipment.
